Monster Mash 10k!!

This weekend we finished off our 10k training session at the Sam Houston Race Park Monster Mash 5k/10k Fun Run.  It was really early and colder than normal, but such a great race!!
Here are a few photos:

Our whole group all ready to go!
Note:  if you are ever getting your group picture taken and the photographer has a wide angle lens, don't stand on the outside :)

Dani ready to fight!

Ami doing her thing at the Mighty Milk booth.
And we can't forget the winner of the costume contest...(he is in the photo above with Krissi too).  This guy carried that coffin on the entire 10k course!!!  And he had at least 20 race medals around his neck...so you could hear him coming.  He must have been really strong!!

That's what I love to hear....

This week our 5th group of 5k Mamas will complete their training and run in their very first 5k!  Last night we ran 3.25 miles and afterwards while cooling down we were chatting and one of the moms said...
"Can you believe we just ran 3.25 miles!?!" and then it happened...

"I know!  When we first started and ran 1/8th of a mile I thought there was no way I'm going to be able to do this."

"Ya...and then we ran 1 mile...I had never run that far before!!!"

"I was like 'Yippee!' and jumped up and down!!!"

The comments like this went around the whole circle!!  It is so awesome to see the sense of accomplishment and confidence each of them now have.  It makes me want to get out and run even more!

We have one more training day until the big Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  Good luck Mommas!  You will do great!!

Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer 5k

Our 4th group of 5k Mamas ran in the Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer 5k earlier this morning.  It was a really small race compared to some of the others our group has participated in so the morning was a little calmer than normal.

We met bright and early (or should I say dark!) to caravan to the Downtown Aquarium.

Once we got there we signed in, got our bibs and shirts and began to warm up.

Here we are at the start line getting ready to run!

And we're off!

Strong Mamas!!

 Yay!  We did it!  Congratulations!!!

Here are the results.

Summer Heat

As we hit the track for 5K training today, we were reminded of how warm the Houston heat can get. The girls did some awesome conditioning work (running stairs) and finished off with some nice half mile runs! Everyone is doing awesome and looking forward to their goals of a 5K!

Just a reminder to everyone; Drink plenty of water AND electrolites. This heat can really make you sweat!

Great job everyone!! :-)
